PEDANG ZANGETSU SHIKAI ICHIGO BLEACH

Picture
Shikai Zangetsu looks more like an elegant cleaver than a formal "katana". He has no crossguard and no proper hilt; what Ichigo holds is the cloth-wrapped tang. Zangetsu is still as long as Ichigo is tall, but the blade is a hand-width only at it's base. From there it tapers in one long arc into a sharp, pointed tip. The cloth wrapping on the tang seems to react to Ichigo's will, changing length at a thought or twining about the blade in an impromptu sheath. Instead of the heavy belt for Zangetsu's sheath, a red chain of interconnecting triangles (one that looks a lot like a spinal column if you look right) runs from Ichigo's right shoulder to left hip. There's no connection or anything, he just puts Zangetsu across his back and the blade sticks. Shikai Zangetsu's power is simple but deadly. He can translate Ichigo's spiritual pressure into tangible energy. The resulting crescent moon of light is called "Getsuga Tenshou" (Moonfang Skyshock) and it can slice cleanly through anything; rock, buildings, people. However, Ichigo is still working on mastering this particular power. Strangely, Zangetsu is constantly in his Shikai form. Ichigo has yet to figure out how to get him to transform into a "normal form".

This is our best Zangetsu sword to date! Huge, rock solid and heavy, this monster features a 1045 high carbon steel blade and full tang construction.

One piece of steel measures 52 in. end to end, 5 mm thick and is weld free, making this the thickest and most solid Zangetsu we have ever seen. The materials, construction method and precise detailing make this the most accurate replica yet.

The handle assembly is equally impressive. Hardwood panels are attached to each side of the blade tang using dual bamboo pegs, then wrapped with overlapping nylon strips. The resulting handle is firm and allows for safe gripping despite the sword's great size. A frayed-edge strip of nylon is attached to the very end of the handle to complete the sword design. This streamer can be removed or replaced if you wish to alter the design.

The blade tapers to an attractive edge and well formed point. While shipping unsharpened, the edge design appears highly aggressive in person and could be honed to a sharp edge depending on your usage needs.

In spite of being oiled and wrapped in plastic, these swords developed rust lines during shipment, as you can see from the pictures. Susceptibility to rust is a characteristic of quality high-carbon steel and the blade will need to keep a thin coating of oil while not in use. These rust patterns are actually quite interesting and each sword's patterns are unique, making the blade appear even more authentic. This product is being sold as-is WITH rust.
